Gut Knife Case Hardened Blue Gem Patterns

CS2 Gut Knife Blue Gem patterns may be challenging for a casual player or even a collector to figure out. The sheer amount and variation and nuance these patterns have require one to have specific knowledge to distinguish them. It’s especially true when it comes to identifying the rarest Blue Gem skins.

In this article, we will discuss the differences between Case Hardened finishes using various Gut Knife Blue Gem patterns. Although it’s not as popular as other knives, this option is still quite cool – the unique shape of Gut’s blade paired with Case Hardened flavor creates some absolutely stunning designs. So, let’s check a couple of decent patterns in each tier, and briefly discuss their appearance, prices, and popularity.

What are the Differences Between Gut Case Hardened Patterns?

Case Hardened skins are known for their random finishes, offering an incredible variety of blue, gold, and purple. The patterns where the majority of skin is covered in blue are called Blue Gems and are typically the most expensive.

However, despite the popularity of any given Gut Knife Blue Gem pattern, it can be really hard to identify it if you don’t know what to look for. So, we’re going to start by defining each Blue Gem tier, and taking a quick look at some examples. Let’s get going!

Just like with other Case Hardened knives, there are 4 tiers of Blue Gem Gut Knife patterns:

  1. 1st Tier : Each Gut Knife Case Hardened Blue Gem of this tier is an extremely expensive and rare piece. As you might have guessed, this ludicrous value is a result of extreme demand for predominantly blue skins and their low supply.
  2. 2nd Tier: Most finishes in this tier combine lots of blue with trace amounts of gold and purple. What’s more, there are tier 2 Case Hardened Gut Knives that have so much blue that they’re practically indistinguishable from their first-tier relatives. However, the difference in price between the two can reach thousands of dollars. As always, the CS market moves in mysterious ways.
  3. 3rd Tier: Patterns in this category have notably less blue, but there are some exceptions. Generally, tier 3 Case Hardened Gut knives are cheaper, as they are simply not as rare as knives from higher tiers.
  4. 4th Tier: 4th tier skins are an interesting case, as there’s not much blue there, and you can find examples with all the available colors represented pretty much equally. Those, however, are still somehow counted among the blue gems. This category also features a wide range of cheap but pretty skins, so it’s definitely worth exploring.

Now, let’s move on to some actual examples with pictures and prices. In this part, we’ll discuss how many patterns are there in each tier, how these patterns look, and how the Gut Knife Blue Gem price may vary depending on these factors. To provide a clear picture of what you can expect, we will review several examples from each tier.

Tier 1

With only 4 patterns in this category, getting any first-tier Gut Knife Blue Gem seed is akin to finding a treasure chest. They may cost tens of thousands of dollars. However, not all patterns in this tier are as blue as you would imagine.

The first is the Field-Tested Pattern #567 Blue Gem, which is priced around $3k. This seed is almost fully blue, with minor traces of gold at the tip and bottom of the blade. The main part of the surface is dominated by light blue, with a little bit of purple here and there. Combined with the rich natural color of the handle, this color palette gives the skin an incredible vibe.

Take a good look at the Field-Tested Pattern #567 Gut Blue Gem. You can probably already see what we meant when speaking about not every Blue Gem being perfect. Undoubtedly, this seed has good blue coverage, but there’s something wrong with it, isn’t it? Could it be a weird yellow-brown spot in the top part of the blade? Perhaps. Other than that, #567 Gut Blue Gem looks great. The blue part is really vibrant and lively, and using this knife still feels great. There’s another huge advantage to #567: the price is 4 times lower than the previous example.

Now, let’s see what we have in Tier 2. There's a general opinion that these patterns are no match for any Blue Gem from the first one, but some players say that this category is very underrated. Let’s check some examples to see for ourselves.

Here’s a Well-Worn Pattern #799. The amount of blue on the blade immediately catches the eye. However, it is not only the amount of color that players and collectors appreciate. As you can see, the pattern is a little messy, with huge blue areas divided by almost as big golden-yellow spots. Add some random purple dots, and you will get a pattern that could have been a Blue Gem but got a little unlucky. Still, the #799 Case Hardened Gut Knife looks pretty cool and is also quite affordable compared to its tier-1 counterparts.

Pattern #644 is another very interesting Tier 2 specimen. Although it looks cleaner than the previous knife we’ve mentioned, its common prices are even lower. Which is great news! Just check how smooth this pattern is: a shining golden figure by the handle, a bright blue body resembling a sea from a bird's eye view, and a tip combining all kinds of bronze, gold, and yellow.

Moving on to the 3rd and 4th Tier seeds, we have to state right away that these are not bad patterns by any means. It’s just that there are more options in these categories, and they are mostly not as rare as Case Hardened Gut knives from other tiers. Besides, there are still patterns clearly dominated by blue hues.

To prove the point right away, here’s a Field-Tested #922. There is indeed even less blue than in the tier 2 examples we’ve just checked. The way it’s spread, though, is what makes this seed so beautiful and special. The intersection of the colors and their shades creates a complex piece of abstract art. Yes, it looks and costs nothing like a “true” Blue Gem, but honestly, is this the only thing that matters? In our opinion, this seed is nothing less than amazing.

Next up is a Well-Worn #428. This seed has a surprisingly even balance of yellow and blue shades, and yet, it feels like yellow is the boss here. The design looks kind of aggressive and dirty. Still, these features are quite attractive to some players, so the demand is still there. This pattern is also about $50 cheaper than the previous one.

As we have mentioned already, tier 4 is a real treasure chest in terms of options to explore – there are lots of them, and they are all very different.

Just by looking at Pattern #167, a true beauty resembling a sunset over water, we can see what kind of potential tier 4 has. A blade that’s almost perfectly divided into even blue and golden parts that looks like a watercolor masterpiece and costs about $200? What more can you wish for?

Closing our list of Gut Knife Case Hardened Blue Gem patterns is this Minimal-Wear #9 – a bloody banger! While not all that “blue”, it’s a hidden “gem”, for sure. Straight up, the bottom part of the blade, including that blazing golden ring, looks mesmerizing. Honestly, it is easily the most beautiful blade on our list. No wonder it’s twice as expensive as some Tier 2s.
