  • All CS2 Inferno Changes & How They Affect the Gameplay

While the Counter-Strike community sends waves of excitement after witnessing a fully revamped Inferno map in a new CS, many can’t help but wonder how Inferno has changed in CS2 exactly. After a full-on exploration of all the changes and their effects on gameplay, we must say that the updated Inferno delivers a novel experience, and there are now lots of new things we need to get used to.

What's new in the CS2 Inferno map? Let’s take a look and see how those changes affect the gameplay.

T-side

While it was actually slightly reduced in its overall size, the T-side area now feels more spacious due to a textures overhaul and slight cosmetic touches here and there.

  • Railings have been removed on the T-side’s corner, which can provide a new speed and jump advantage (e.g., you can storm through across the staircase and get a high ground for a good jump).

    CS2

  • Talking about additions over removals, we have some small pillars added that you can now use as a cover.

    CS:GO

    CS2

  • There is now no roof piece after the balcony entrance, which means you can no longer use a skill jump to reach an upper balcony area of the map.

T Apartments

The T Apartments now offer slightly more maneuverability for T-side players while pushing toward the A-site. However, the angle changes can favor either side depending on their strategy and execution.

  • This area has generally received only slight changes with little to no impact on gameplay, with one standout update being that the interior has become lighter and more inviting as a whole.

    CS:GO

    CS2

  • The boiler room entrance is now a reception (just FYI).

    CS:GO

    CS2

  • And right around the reception area, the ceiling has been slightly lowered, which is a new obstacle to block your throwables that you should keep in mind.

A-site

A bunch of things have undergone major changes in the A-site area. Let’s take a look.

  • Right off the bat, we can see an updated layout with a completely transformed balcony — there are no more railings to break your fall into the Pit below, but there is a piece of roof to serve as a segway down. There are also no more railings separating the Graveyard area on the right site.

    CS:GO

  • The corner in the A-site Pit has been removed, which is quite noticeable, but that doesn’t spawn any new gameplay effect.

    CS:GO

    CS2

  • The short area around the A-site has received a major change where there is now a piece of roof instead of two balconies, and you can easily jump onto that roof to get a boost up.

    CS:GO

    CS2

  • The Brackets to the Top-Mid passage also looks quite different now, getting a new lighting scheme and becoming slightly narrower as a whole. But the only gameplay-shifting addition here is a new corner that can be used for cover. Also, the flower pot position is no more.

Mid

Mid's surrounding areas have become narrower and longer in general, offering more dynamics. Let’s see the particular changes on the new Inferno map in CS2.

  • The mentioned narrowness can be especially seen in this squeeze-through that received a new structure above, stealing some major space. Gotta be careful with your flashbangs here now so as not to blind yourself.

    CS:GO

    CS2

  • Going further into the Mid, the barrels around this corner are gone, and the corner area on the left has become much narrower. Note also the newly appeared balcony that can now block your throwables.

    CS2

Underpass

The underpass area has been restructured, creating opportunities for both CT and T sides. CTs can use it as a quick rotation route, while T-side players can catch CTs off guard.

The underpass itself has become much better lighted and brighter.

CS:GO

CS2

Long

Long has received structural changes that make it more challenging for T-side players to gain control. CTs can now hold this area more effectively, potentially disrupting T pushes.

  • The only felt change right over here is a far-end corner going a bit deeper now.

    CS:GO

    CS2

  • The library at the end of the Long has turned into a simple room, perhaps a cellar, and it has more ground to cover now.

    CS:GO

    CS2

CT-side

The CT-side has seen some major modifications, enhancing defensive gameplay.

  • The arch in the middle of the CT-spawn-bound passage has become thinner, stealing some defensive opportunities but adding more space instead.

    CS:GO

    CS2

  • The CT-spawn area itself has also become much more spacious, which should provide a major dynamics boost. No more pillars and awkward corners over the left-side fence.

    CS:GO

    CS2

  • The direction towards the B-site from the spawn hasn’t changed much gameplay-wise, except for the right corner no longer being that convenient to ricochet flashbangs off of.

    CS:GO

    CS2

  • The Boost passage leading to the B-site has become wider and got rid of the ever-annoying tree in the middle of it.

    CS:GO

    CS2

  • Moving on toward the church entrance, the out-of-place bench is finally no more, moving to the left and much out of sight. Most importantly, the church doorway has shrunk to a one-person passage.

    CS:GO

    CS2

  • Hey, the church seems to have finished construction — and yeah, you can no longer throw grenades through the roof here.

    CS:GO

    CS2

  • This area should certainly add dynamics to battles, as there is now more space where the coffins used to be, while the added pillar makes the church corner more strategically efficient.

    CS:GO

    CS2

B-site

The B-site remains quite similar to what it used to be, with the exception of several CS2 Inferno changes.

  • Brace yourself — you can no longer get on top of the fountain for a nice but quaint vantage point. The same goes for using water effects to one’s advantage — no more of that. All the boxes here have become wooden, so you can now shoot through them.

    CS:GO

    CS2

  • The B-site entrance hasn’t changed much, except for new lighting and finished construction.

    CS:GO

    CS2

Banana

  • Banana has all the same corners, but its chokepoint has been adjusted. The new dimensions allow for more creative plays by T-side teams when contesting control. However, CTs now have added cover to make holding the Banana more feasible.

    CS:GO

    CS2

  • The only major Banana corner rehauls can be better seen top-down — there is more cover on the left side and less on the right.

    CS:GO

    CS2

  • Also, make sure to keep in mind these newly added planks that will surely come in the way of your smokes or other throwables.

Which Textures Have Become Unavailable for Interaction on the New Inferno Map?

Pit’s new pillars

Some major Inferno map changes in CS2 have made it harder to hide or jump onto certain structures in the Inferno's Pit. Also, the addition of pillars in the Pit has made it challenging for players to jump onto ledges, which were once used as effective vantage points.

B-site walls

The updated CS2 Inferno map has redesigned walls near the B-site. Players can no longer find the same cover spots, making it crucial to adapt their defensive and offensive strategies.

A-site boxes

Several boxes on the A-site have been altered. Players will need to reconsider their approaches, as some once-favored jump spots are no longer viable in the new Inferno map in CS2.

Bottom Line

If you wish to master the newly updated Inferno map in CS2, considering all these changes is a must, as the new updates shape the new Counter Strike’s gameplay. Before planning effective attacks on a rehauled map, make sure to consider the above differences between the Inferno map in CS2 and CS:GO.

Stay in tune for more CS2 Inferno updates and adapt to the dynamic shifts that CS2's Inferno introduces — we’ll help you with that. And good luck on the battlefield!
