Rarest Fortnite Skins

It's no secret that if a thing exists in the year of our lord 2025, Fortnite likely has a skin based on it. Naturally, between limited-time collaborations with big-name brands and exclusive Battle Pass rewards, some of these cosmetics are so extremely rare that they’re practically impossible to get. But what is the rarest Fortnite skin ever?

Well, it’s hard to tell. The rarity of a Fortnite skin is determined by its availability, exclusivity, and how often it appears in the Item Shop. Skins tied to limited-time events, collaborations, or early Battle Passes are often the rarest, as fewer players had the chance to unlock or purchase them. Some are still possible to get if you know where to look, while others are so rare that just seeing them feels like a miracle, as they might not appear in the in-game shop for years.

This makes the game a paradise for collectors, and we've compiled a list of rarest Fortnite skins to show you where to start. If you’re lucky enough to own one of them, know that lots of players from across the globe envy you! So, what are the rarest skins in Fortnite, and how can you get them?. Let’s find out!

10. Snake Eyes

Snake Eyes

“Name? Classified. Ninja master? Verified.” A long, long time ago his ninja skills were available for hire in the Item Shop. This skin is truly one of a kind and can make any G.I. Joe fan go crazy. However, even a regular player unfamiliar with this universe may find this skin appealing. After his debut in Chapter 2, Season 5, Snake Eyes stayed in the shop for 50 days and hasn’t returned since. But we believe it will eventually make a return and bless us with its presence once more.

  1. Release Date: 31st January 2021
  2. How to get: Item Shop
  3. Price: 1,800 V-bucks

9. Master Chief

Master Chief

The legendary Spartan from the Halo series. When Fortnite began introducing Gaming Legends Series skins, adding Master Chief was only a matter of time. Not including this epic-looking armor suit with its matte black elements would have been a crime. However, the skin hasn't appeared in the game for almost a year, so it's uncertain whether it will ever return to the Shop. On the other hand, this increases its rarity, especially among Halo fans.

  1. Release Date: 11th December 2020
  2. How to get: Item Shop
  3. Price: 1,500 V-bucks (2,600 V-bucks for bundle)

8. Kratos

Kratos

Another Spartan warrior, but not quite the same. The legendary Kratos — the God of War himself — had made his way into the Fortnite universe in Chapter 2, Season 5. This skin is so famous that many 'what's the rarest Fortnite skin' threads we’ve reviewed placed it in the top 3. The skin was featured in the Item Shop a whooping 33 times but then vanished for years. Even Chapters themed around Greek mythology didn’t get Kratos back in the shop. This fact had caused an ungodly amount of, well, disappointment among the God of War fans.

  1. Release Date: 4th December 2020
  2. How to get: Item Shop
  3. Price: 1,500 V-bucks (2,200 V-bucks for bundle)

7. Arcane Vi

Arcane Vi

Despite being tied to the Arcane series, this skin actually belongs to the Gaming Legends collection. Vi first appeared in Fortnite during Chapter 3, Season 1, and was available in the in-game shop for only 2 weeks. After that, even the release of the second season of the series wasn’t enough to bring her back, leaving many players who missed this collaboration deeply dissatisfied.

  1. Release Date: 23rd January 2022
  2. How to get: Item Shop
  3. Price: 1,500 V-bucks (1,800 V-bucks for bundle)

6. Travis Scott

Travis Scott

Now we’re talking! Some might be surprised to see this skin only in the sixth spot, as every Fortnite player dreams of its return to the shop, even if just for a single day. As of right now, the skin was available there for just 6 (!) times. Naturally, there are many rumors about why this skin is such a rare sight while so many players eagerly await its return, but the truth remains unknown. While there are far rarer skins in the game, the fame of the Travis Scott makes lots of collectors consider it the rarest skin in Fortnite.

  1. Release Date: 22nd April 2020
  2. How to get: Item Shop
  3. Price: 1,500 V-bucks (2,500 V-bucks for bundle)

5. Midas

Midas

Midas, the Golden King himself, debuted in Chapter 2, Season 2, and quickly became a fan favorite. This skin was the reason some players delved into Fortnite in the first place, and the main motivation to purchase its associated Battle Pass. Despite the numerous variations of Midas available through other, more accessible offers, the original style remains the most coveted.

  1. Release Date: 20th February 2020
  2. How to get: Reach Tier 100 of C2S2 Battle Pass
  3. Price: 950 V-bucks (cost of BP)

4. The Reaper

The Reaper

No, this is not John Wick. Yes, the Reaper looks like him, but that’s intentional. This skin was available to players who reached level 100 in the Battle Pass during Season 3, making it rarer than Midas, as Fortnite’s fan base was still growing back in 2018. However, despite being one of the rarest Fortnite skins, it is a frequent sight in-game because both old and new players seem to never get enough of its style. Note that there’s an actual John Wick skin, and it appears in the shop more often.

  1. Release Date: 22nd February 2018
  2. How to get: Reach Tier 100 of the S3 Battle Pass
  3. Price: 950 V-bucks (cost of BP)

3. Aerial Assault Trooper

Aerial Assault Trooper

Now, let’s see the three finalists. Seeing an Aerial Assault Trooper in the wild means you’re in the presence of an old-school player who was among the first to join the game, and now rocks one of the rarest skins in Fortnite. It’s an incredibly rare sight, especially considering that the players rarely choose it over a bunch of cooler and more unique skins released in the later Chapters. But there’s a catch! With the release of the OG Pass, this skin got a remake – the Aerial Assault Bomber, which looks almost the same but has better texture quality.

  1. Release Date: 26th October 2017
  2. How to get: Unlock 15 Level of Season Shop
  3. Price: 1,200 V-bucks

2. Rue

Rue

The skin’s in-game description says: 'Her hobbies include revenge, vengeance, and retribution.' This skin not only looks incredibly cute but is also extremely rare, as it was available in the Item Shop only twice, with a month-long gap in between. What makes it one of the rarest Fortnite skins ever is that when it first appeared, no one expected it to become so scarce. As a result, only a few players bought it, with the rest \ realizing its rarity only after missing their chance to grab one.

  1. Release Date: 25th April 2020
  2. How to get: Item Shop
  3. Price: 1,200 V-bucks

1. Golden Agent Peely

Golden Agent Peely

And our winner is… a golden banana. Surprisingly, it's nearly impossible to get, as, firstly, the Agent Peely style isn’t very popular, and secondly, to obtain the Golden Agent style, players had to reach level 300 in Chapter 2, Season 2 Battle Pass. Furthermore, the version you’ve got at level 300 wasn’t even fully covered in gold, and to get that appealing golden layer you’d have to grind for a further 50. This convoluted process made Golden Agent Peely the rarest skin in Fortnite history, the title it holds to this very day.

  1. Release Date: 20th February 2020
  2. How to get: Reach Tier 300-350 of C2S2 Battle Pass
  3. Price: 950 V-bucks (cost of BP)

Conclusion

So, what is the rarest skin in Fortnite? While the answer may depend on your own experiences and preferences, one thing is certain: these skins have earned their place as legends in Fortnite’s ever-expanding world. It’s also worth noting that not all the skins in this article are forever lost to us — some had returned to the Item Shop several times over the years, and will likely do so again.
