The Budapest Major 2025 Update on 13th November 2025 for CS2

The Budapest Major 2025 update was finally released on November 13th! Let’s dive deeper into the recent changes and explore how they’ve changed our favorite game.
Budapest Major Content
Although the first stage of the StarLadder Budapest Major 2025 is set to begin on Monday, November 24th, the CS2 community has already received a related update. Of course, the core changes are tied to the upcoming event.
First, the StarLadder Budapest Major Hub is now available in the main menu. Players can use it to check and buy new tournament items, buy the Viewer Pass, or make predictions in the Pick’Em Challenge.

The Viewer Pass provides full access to the tournament's events and souvenir packages. Plus, it guarantees you a Budapest 2025 Coin, which you can upgrade from copper to the diamond one by making the correct predictions in the Pick’Em Challenge.
Talking about the new stickers — all of them look truly awesome, especially considering their thematic floral design.

Sticker Slabs
Valve added a new cosmetic item called “Sticker Slab”. You can seal any of your stickers into this charm and attach it to your guns or even a C4 bomb. It’s great that you can preview how this cosmetic item looks on the weapon without applying it. Also, the player can return the sealed stickers to their inventory by cracking open the slabs and discarding them.

Market-Related Updates
All recently purchased Name Tag and StatTrak™ Swap Tool items are now untradable. As community members claim, this change is likely due to the same reason the keys are no longer available for trading — fraudsters used to steal credit cards, purchase these items, and then resell them on third-party platforms. Plus, Valve added the rarity borders in the showcase section.
Gameplay Improvements
The developers increased the maximum effective sv_maxvelocity by four times (from the default 3,500 to 16,384 units per second). Just like other previous updates, this one is obviously made to improve the surfing experience, which requires swift moves. They also addressed the issues causing mispredicted jump button presses and jump apexes.
Minor Changes
The gamers who adore playing as terrorists probably noticed the pulsing light on the C4 bomb. The developers also changed its inspection animation, which is obviously due to the possibility of applying Sticker Slabs.
The skybox on the Inferno map finally doesn’t block the nades. Considering this is one of the maps in the current competitive pool, Valve is trying to fix all the issues before the Major. That’s also the reason they made the following changes:
- Increased default bullet decal rendering distance. Now it’s easier to get valuable information without reaching close to the objects and walls.
- General performance improvements.
Finally, Glove models and animations in the inventory preview now use Animgraph2. However, it’s difficult to notice this change, but it’s still a clear signal that CS2 is actively adapting to this new animation system.
