Patch 7.41 “Gameplay Update” of March 25, 2026 for Dota 2

On the 25th of March, Valve released patch 7.41 for Dota 2 to fix major in-game issues and bring some improvements. So, let’s check out what has changed!

Neutral Items Changes
Now, you can get Tier 1 neutral items at 0:00 instead of waiting until 5:00. Also, the Madstone crafting cost for Tier 1 items has slightly increased from 5 to 6. Although this change may look insignificant, but it’ll surely make the early minutes of matches less predictable and more dynamic. Additionally, Valve added some new neutral items:
- Forager's Kit (Tier 1);
- Stonefeather Satchel (Tier 1);
- Partisan's Brand (Tier 3);
- Spellslinger (Tier 3);
- Conjurer's Catalyst (Tier 4);
- Enchanter's Bauble (Tier 4);
- Prophet's Pendulum (Tier 4);
- Harmonizer (Tier 5).
Nerfed Refresher Orb
The patch changed the way the Refresher Orb works. Now, it refreshes only abilities, so you can forget about double BKB and other late-game tactics.
Removed Facets
The unexpected removal of the Facet system significantly changes gameplay. Now, playing Dota 2 feels less overwhelming since the developers got rid of one of the most complex in-game mechanics.
New Items
Clearly, this patch has changed the meta, as new items will impact power spikes and the creation of more efficient hero builds. The table below includes all new artifacts added to the game:
Consecrated Wraps | Chasm Stone | Shawl |
Splintmail | Wizard Hat | Crella's Crozier |
Essence Distiller | Hydra's Breath | Specialist's Array (Returned Item) |
Changed Lane Dynamics
Now, offlane creeps move slower while their safelane buddies move faster until 7:30. Also, on both top and bottom lanes, creep meeting points have been shifted toward the offlane, and the first extra siege unit appears at the 30th minute instead of the 35th. It looks like the developers want to make the matches more dynamic and fast-paced.
Valve has also slightly redesigned the map, pushing the portals closer to the edges, adjusting ward spots, and repositioning lotus pools. All of this directly impacts rotation tactics, vision control, and movement paths.
Tormentor Changes
Tormentor is no longer such a big threat since its damage reflection was reduced from 50% to only 30%. Now, it’ll be easier to destroy it during the early or mid-game phases. On the other hand, Tormentor now scales better into the late game as it gets a stronger shield and status resistance.
Reworked Healing and Lifesteal Mechanics
Valve finally standardized healing mechanics by reworking the amplification formula and making Health Restoration affect all healing sources. Also, lifesteal now only heals when actual damage is dealt, and it doesn’t work with the reflected damage anymore.
Important Hero Changes
Patch 7.41 has affected many heroes, but the most important ones are:
- Meepo’s clones can now use items, but their cooldowns are shared.
- Techies received their green mines back, got an innate M.A.D. ability, and a better Aghanim’s Shard.
- Tinker’s old Matrix mechanic has been replaced with turrets, allowing him to act more aggressively during the mid- and late-game phases.
Neutral Creeps Adjustments
Neutral creeps also received several adjustments. Kobolds grew stronger while the power of ghosts and wolves diminished. Also, the changes affected some of their abilities, which will potentially influence traditional farming patterns.
