How to Find Out What CS2 Rank Others Have?
CS2 features a complex rank system that can tell you a lot about what to expect from a fellow player. On the most basic level, it's a great indicator of a player's skill, allowing you to quickly determine if the player in front of you is a master or a beginner. In the days of CS:GO, the game had a linear ranking system that determined your level by the number of wins and level of play. However, with the update to CS2, Valve reworked it, and now there are essentially 2 separate rankings.
The first is your rank in Competitive mode. Those are Silver, Gold Nova, Legendary Eagle, Global Elite, and the rest of the bunch. The key difference is that in Counter-Strike 2, these ranks don’t show your overall progress but are tied to individual maps.
There is also an advanced premier rating that (in theory, at least) shows the overall skill of the player and takes into account a greater number of factors. In general, this rating is more pro-oriented and is similar to FACEIT ranking and other alternative matchmaking sites.
Knowing what CS2 rank others have can be very useful. If a Legendary Eagle offers you a friendly match, and you are still a Silver, then you’d better skip this offer and go for some practice and training. Ranks also can be used to keep track of your friends' progress, which adds to the spirit of friendly competition. After all, you can look at the rank of the player who beat you to see if your chances were equal.
With that in mind, let's take a look at how to find out what CS2 rank others have.
Methods for determining other people's CS2 ratings
In-Game Inspection
Let's start with the most obvious way of how to see CS2 rank of others — in-match statistics. They are displayed at the end of each match on the results page above the player's nickname.
You can also see the ratings during the match by simply pressing Tab.
If you are interested in how to see other CS2 players rating at the pro level, you can do it in the leaderboard. Just go to matchmaking and then click Premier. You will see the global leaderboard. Please note that the table only lists the top players and does not have a search option, so it will be difficult, if not impossible, to find any specific person there.
Using the Friends List
The easiest way to find a CS2 rank of other players is to look it up if they are on your friends list. To do this:
- Swipe to the right in the main menu of the game.
You will see a list of players who are on your friends list.
- Left-click on a friend's nickname, and you will see their rank and rating.
Third-Party Websites and Tools
Another handy way to check the CS2 rank of others is through third-party sites. Valve does not display detailed statistics and player ranks anywhere, but there are special resources that do so.
However, there is one important condition. For you to see the player’s rank, they should be registered on the site and give it access to their statistics. Otherwise, the tool will simply not find their profile.
Let's see how it works on the example of one of the largest player statistics websites, https://csstats.gg/.
Go to Steam and reach the profile of the player you want to check.
Copy their Steam ID, Steam Profile link, or Custom Steam URL.
Then, enter the copied link into the search bar at csstats.gg.
- If the player has connected their account to the site, you will see all their statistics.
Note that the information you will see depends on what the player themself wants to show. For example, you will only see ranks on maps if the player has enabled Match Tracking. If this is not the case, you will only see the Premier rankings (once again, provided that the player enabled this option).
