CS2 Update Guns, Guides, and Games of 19th of March 2026

CS2 Update Guns, Guides, and Games of 19th of March 2026

On March 19, Valve unexpectedly released a major update for Counter-Strike 2. Let’s go through the core changes to see how they will influence the gameplay experience!

New Reloading Mechanics

First and foremost, Valve has completely overhauled the reloading system to encourage more careful ammo management. Now, gunfights will feel even more realistic, as when a player reloads a magazine, all remaining ammunition is discarded. Yeah, this means you should forget about reloading every time you’ve fired only 1–3 bullets.

Moreover, the new mechanics have also slightly changed the UI. Now, you can see not only how many bullets are left in your current magazine but also how many reserve magazines you have:

Map Guides

Valve also enabled map guides in Competitive and Retakes modes. These will be available during the first five rounds of each half, allowing players to learn different smoke lineups and test their skills in real matches against live opponents. You can enable these guides in the pause menu:

Also, these changes led to the introduction of new commands for the Developer Console (they only work when sv_cheats 1 is enabled):

Command

Description

sv_allow_annotations_access_level

Set to 0 to disable guides, 1 for limited access, and 2 to view and edit all annotations.

sv_annotation_limits_max_rounds_per_half

Defines the number of rounds during which guides will be available. The default value is 5, and you can also set it to -1 to remove the limit.

The official guides are available for all Active Duty maps. Additionally, players can subscribe to specific guidelines from the Steam Community Workshop.

Workshop Maps

Finally, the developers fixed issues related to joining friends on different CS community maps. Now, you can do it without needing to search for a specific custom server or repeatedly rehost the game, praying that this time your buddy will finally connect to it.
