CS2 Tonight's Forecast: Rain-cient Update of 15.08.2025

CS2 Tonight's Forecast: Rain-cient Update of 15.08.2025

Valve continues to please the Counter-Strike 2 community with new updates, and on August 14, it updated Ancient and Shoots maps. Additionally, the developers improved other in-game aspects!

Maps Update

First and foremost, Ancient and Shoots have finally got amazing nighttime versions. However, consider that you’ll be able to explore the ruins of Ancient at night, only if you play this map in Casual and Deathmatch modes.

Further, the developers significantly upgraded the textures to ensure their perfect alignment with the newest CS2 shaders. And due to new blending options, such as wetness and moss, now paying both Ancient and Shoots indeed feels like you’re somewhere in the middle of a jungle.

New Items

Of course, any big update wouldn’t be complete without new items, and this time Valve has pleased us with the following stuff:

  1. Deluge Music Kit Box: Now, you can purchase a new music kit box, featuring the soundtracks from 10 performers, including Adam Beyer and Jonathan Young. For $5–7 (depending on your region), you can purchase this item and get a song composed by one of these authors.

  1. M4A1-S | Solitude: The players who participate in Armory Pass now can use their credits to purchase this excellent limited-time item. Note that after buying it, you’ll get this gun randomly designed with one out of four possible prints.

By the way, after the update, Valve introduced discounts on the stickers from BLAST.TV Austin Major 2025. So, if you’ve been waiting for a perfect moment to purchase them, the time is now!

Animations

The last significant update of animations resulted in mixed reviews from players. So, it looks like the developers decided to bring everything back. The deploy animations for AWP, M4A4, A4A1-S, AK, Galil, AUG, PP-Bizon, and SSG08 indeed resemble the ones that were in the game before July 29, 2025. At the same time, Valve fixed new deploy and inspect animations for all knives and fixed XM1014 blocking the crosshair during reload, so now it's way more pleasant to use these weapons.

Miscellaneous

Here, we’ve listed the tiny improvements officially announced by Valve, as well as interesting changes spotted by players:

  1. You can’t use the fps_max command when you’re playing on the server. Thus, Valve removed another trick for using the bunnyhop move during the matches.
  2. Rendering performance was improved across most maps.
  3. Too quick firing after a re-deploy was fixed for several weapons.
  4. Now, wounds from knives and bullets are bigger.

  1. The players can finally change rendering resolution and aspect ratio in full-screen windowed mode. You can opt for 4:3 stretched resolution immediately without facing any performance issues (for Windows 11 users).
