CS2 Premier Season Three Update

While most CS2 teams are enjoying the break period in the middle of summer, Valve released another update on July 16, 2025. The Overpass is back with the Season 3 start in the Premier, while new trade locks should decrease scamming opportunities. Additionally, Counter-Terrorists faced a nerfed MP9, but received an improved incendiary and economy boost.

The List of Changes and Updates

Here is what the community received with the latest update:

Premier Season 3 Brought Overpass to Active Duty Pool

The second season is now over, and players should start their path to the ranking and calibration in the Premier from scratch. Traditionally, you need 10 wins to appear on the common table, while the new icon dedicated to the 3rd season will be available after 25 victories. To receive it, players will also need to keep their ranking active and up-to-date, as inactivity for a month will freeze their progress.

Besides, with IEM Cologne 2025 just around the corner, all pro teams should now prepare for Overpass. It replaced Anubis, and many teams will now search for their old drafts on how to play the map, which was completely redrawn with the CS2 release alongside Inferno. That is the second map change in 2025 after the Train announcement on January 6th, which should also add unpredictability to the pro scene.

New Reality for Counter-Terrorists

The most often used gun in the SMG department for CTs, the MP9, will lose its popularity with the latest update. Valve cut the jumping accuracy and increased recoil, which directly affects two major benefits of this submachine gun. At the same time, it should increase the variety of weapons Counter-Terrorists are using during force and halfbuys, but will probably boost FAMAS usage the most.

On the bright side, an Incendiary grenade will now spread faster, which is the response to its nerfing almost a year ago. Also, CTs get a slight economic boost and will receive a team reward of $50 for every terrorist killed in the round.

Ability to Revoke the Trade

The smallest feature in the new update introduces a renewed rule for trading, with all items being locked for further trade and use for seven days. Moreover, everyone will have an opportunity to cancel the deal within this weekly period, which should decrease the potential for fraud and scams during sales.
