- Does Valve Allow to Use Pixel Boosts in CS2?

While it is true that you can play conventionally most of the time—that is, without using self-boosts, pixel boosts, and team boosts—you are losing out on a whole lot of advantages, especially as more and more players start to use these tricks. Interested in learning what exactly CS2 boost spots are and how you can use them? Welcome to our guide!
Using boost spots allows players to gain an edge against their opponents, as they wouldn’t usually expect a player waiting for them at those locations. This fraction of a second delay is all you need to open fire before they move their crosshair from the usual pre-fire position to wherever you are shooting from. On top of that, some boost spots like those on Dust 2 make use of tight angles to put you in an even better position against an unsuspecting enemy.
Olofmeister boost on the map Overpass is a perfect example of this tactic done right. It happened almost 10 years ago, but a lot of players still remember how that amazing exploit allowed Fnatic to make a comeback and steal that win against LDLC. Fun fact: Valve immortalized this move by adding a graffiti saying “Don’t climb over the railing” in German to this pixel spot.
Now that the advantages of using this technique are clear, let's see where and how to use pixel spots on different maps.
Inferno — Apartments
This one is pretty simple yet still one of the best pixel boosts on CS2 maps. By crouch-jumping, you can climb up the painting, just as shown in the GIF. Upcoming enemies would totally not expect you to be sitting on the wall, granting you the element of surprise.

Office — Side Hall Plant
While it’s quite a common spot for an ambush, hiding in plain sight can often do wonders. Simply jump on the plant, sit tight, and wait for the enemy to show up. Odds are that you will start shooting before they do — and then it all depends on your recoil control.

Office — Garage Yard
Taking advantage of the map’s lighting, you can jump out of the window into the Garage Yard without getting noticed, and then hide on the garage sheds. It’s very unlikely for the enemy to react on time since the map is generally pretty dark.

Dust 2 — CT Spawn Small Box
Be advised that this spot opens your back to an enemy potentially flanking you. However, the reason it’s in our list of the best CS2 boost spots is that if you’ve got the correct intel on enemy positions, you may just dominate the game from this position. And though this box may be wall-banged, it’s more likely that you will kill the enemy before they even see you.

Dust 2 — CT Spawn Big Box
Another great position to take on this map, this time utilizing the bigger box, right next to the boost we’ve just mentioned. It opens up a great angle to defend the A site against players coming from the B or Long.

Dust 2 — X Box
Remember how many times you had to follow the route from the Tunnels to the A Site when Ts planted the bomb there? Arriving on the scene quickly gives you more time to attack your opponent and defuse the bomb, not mentioning that you can catch them off-guard. This boost shortens your path, giving you a few precious seconds, which can very well translate into a round win.
To perform this boost, you need to gain some speed, and then take off with a Ctrl+Space combo just when you are out of the tunnel.

Mirage — Market Shelf
Market shelf is probably one of the most overpowered positions in our list of the best boosts in CS2. It’s very versatile since it’s suitable for both Ts and CTs: you can defending the Site from a T bomb, or from CTs rushing to defuse it.

Dust 2 — Long Doors Box
For this one, you’ll need to combine W and Ctrl while continuously pressing Space. This is an amazing spot for defending the Long from CT rushes, as it protects you from Molotov and HE grenades. This fact alone makes it one of the best camp boost spots on CS2 maps.

Mirage — Default A Box to Palace
It’s a tough one, but once you get it, you will be able to ace those Palace encounters and quickly flank enemy positions there. All you need is Ctrl+Space to climb the textures and then continue moving without losing momentum, so you are able to make it to the Palace.

Overpass — Con stairs Pipe
This one used to be much easier before it was nerfed by Valve. The reason was that the spot was not an intended map mechanic—a glitch allowed pixel climbing your way to the pipe. Now, it’s purely skill-based—master your timing, and you’ll get there.

Mirage — Mid Boxes to Pillar
This is easily one of the top CS2 boost spots, as you can easily pick off anyone leaving Con or peeking the Window. They will likely be aiming for the Mid Boxes or Top Mid, allowing you to open fire first. Climb the Mid Boxes, then gain some speed as you jump off the edge closest to Pillar.

Ancient — A Site Boost
Another common boost, this time on Ancient! Players trying to replicate this should be aware that they will have to move their mouse a lot to avoid colliding with the brick wall. You need to do this to avoid losing that precious momentum that actually propels you forward.
Being one of the best boost spots in Counter-Strike 2, it allows players to obliterate opponents heading from the Main or trying to plant/defuse the bomb at that location.

Mirage — Car to Apartments
Extremely useful boost that allows you to dominate T players coming from the Apartments. This move gives you more options at defending the site, and reduces possible pressure Ts can apply.
You can perform the boost by running towards and jumping off the car with a knife. You may also jump into the Apt window from there if necessary. All you need is the right camera movement and timing.

Inferno — Half Wall
This boost can catch a lot of T players off guard, provided you make it there on time. Since the Banana is curved, standing on the Half Wall will give you an advantage in seeing the enemy before they see you. They are also likely to be aiming at the barrels and pallet and not the Half Wall. If you get flashed, simply drop behind the Half Wall.
Some quick camera movement is crucial to employing this trick. To succeed with this boost, you need to make sure you are jumping off the left edge of the barrel.

Office — Front Yard Ladder Window
This position gives you amazing angle access without using a ladder or breaking glass from inside. This saves your precious time, removes sound cues, and makes you virtually invisible to the enemy until the moment you strike. This spot is perfect for a quick frag, and allows for a safe withdrawal afterward.

Overpass — Under
Very good spot to camp people trying to go downstairs. As you can see at the beginning of this GIF, the boxes onto which the player jumps are barely visible from upstairs, so unless someone is very cautious you should be able to pre-fire their heads off.
For this trick, you need to follow along the left side and jump off at the end, while moving your camera a bit to the right. This should let you land right on top of the boxes at the bottom.

Inferno — Balcony to Headshot
What makes this one of the best CS2 pixel boost spots is the option to effectively float off the wall and kill any T coming from the Apartments or Mid. You will be surprised with how many people don’t know that you can casually sit on the wall there.

Inferno — Balcony to Quad
Not many players can reach this spot, but it’s not nearly as hard as it may seem, and is highly rewarding. Since not many gamers bother to try this boost, your opponent probably won’t be expecting to find someone at this location. This gives you the upper hand, especially against players coming from the Mid, as they will have even less time to react.
To reach this spot, you will need to gain some momentum and move your camera slightly to the right as you jump, just like shown in the GIF. This helps you avoid contact with the wall. Good luck!

Overpass — Ramp to Under Ladder
This position is great if you’re expecting some guests coming from the Under or trying to climb down the ladder, especially since they will be facing you with their back. That's the reason it deserves a mention in our list of the best self-boost spots in CS2. When you see the brownish line on the wall behind the ladder, turn around and Ctrl+Space your way to the ledge.

Overpass — Sandbags
Overpass has some of the most useful boost spots on CS maps, and this is one of them. By following this GIF, you will take an amazing position that will help you dominate this map’s most active zone. But, be aware of people peeking and dropping from the Heaven into the Pit.

Does Valve Allow to Use Pixel Boosts in CS2?
While pixel boosting isn’t an intended mechanic, Valve does not ban players who use it. They do however regularly patch these things out of the game, so pixel boost spots in CS2 are somewhat of an endangered species. Major leagues are well aware of the existence of such spots, and they often make a list of pixel-boosts in CS2 that players can’t use on their tournaments.
