CS2 29.07.2025 Update

Valve has released an update for Counter-Strike 2 on July 29th. It has already divided the community — while some gamers praise new animations, others are shocked by awkward bugs.

The List of Changes & Updates

Animation Enhancements

First and foremost, Valve has updated the animation system to AnimGraph2. The developers claim they’ve replaced all first-person animation, including weapon deploy, firing, reload, and inspection. No doubt, now using guns like the Desert Eagle and the AK-47 feels much more realistic. At the same time, the new deploy animation for the Bayonet knife looks like it has been taken from a cartoon, which has already disappointed many players.

Also, CS2 developers have finally… updated animations for chickens! Yeah, that’s what the whole community has been waiting for so long!

Gameplay Improvements

Next, let’s get to the gameplay improvements, such as the enhancement of damage prediction when shooting while moving. Obviously, Valve tries to improve the new Damage Prediction feature, which still gets mixed reviews from the players.

Also, the update fixes an automatic reload of the shotguns after shooting. This tiny improvement slightly enhances the usage of all shotguns in the game.

Finally, it’s nearly the fifth time that Valve claims it has fixed an issue causing players to get stuck on map geometry while surfing. Hopefully, the developers indeed managed to finish this never-ending cycle.

Audio & Misc Changes

New animations led to the improvement of weapon reload and draw sounds that perfectly match the AnimGraph2 update. Plus, the developers added new speed-sensitive sounds that play while surfing. Hence, it looks like Valve has focused on the surf maps, significantly enhancing the gaming experience for their fans. In addition to the mentioned changes, the new update also improves ambient sounds for community map makers and solves the issues with individual player voice volume adjustments.

Additionally, the game opens the Community Server Browser in the Steam Overlay instead of alt-tabbing CS2. Now, it’s more pleasant to use this feature.

Map Updates

Another interesting part of this update is the improvement of three official maps: Overpass, Train, and Inferno. Let’s pay attention to these changes and compare them with the previous versions.

Overpass

The most prominent update is the adjustment of the truck’s angle on A Site. Also, you may notice that wires have appeared around the map.

Additionally, the developers added breakable glass to the B Doors, similar to CS:GO. Other minor changes include the removal of the grass near A Site and flattened tops of some broken walls, which, globally, won’t affect the gameplay for the majority of the players.

Train

This map has finally received significant updates, which have changed some angles and added new covers. For example, the crates appeared on A Site by the Hell train:

Additionally, there is a new cover in Upper B halls:

A platform on the B site outside of Z has also been changed. Now, it’ll be easier to hold this position thanks to a new cover:

The final important update on the map includes the adjustment of a cover, which provided an overpowered angle towards the Ivy:

Inferno

Inferno has also received some sweet changes. First of all, we have got Church windows opened above the Coffins, providing us with new interesting ways to fight for B Site:

Also, developers decided to simplify the area behind the Coffins, making it wider:

Unfortunately, someone at Valve has thought it’s time to complete repairs on A Site balcony railing. Thus, we’ve got a way more annoying path for the T-team:

Finally, the developers also decluttered the Banana to improve legibility. Thus, this location now looks more plain:

Besides, the developers have slightly changed the first box on B Site and the Arch light. Nonetheless, these adjustments are unlikely to change the way you play Inferno.

And those are all the most notable updates released by Valve! If you want, you can get acquainted with the complete list of changes on the Counter-Strike 2 official page!
