AK-47 Gold Gem Guide
What makes a skin design stand out? Is it rarity, exquisite visuals, or secondary market appeal? The piece we’re going to discuss today has all of the above and more!
When talking about unique skins, it’s impossible not to mention the Case Hardened family. It’s available only for several weapons in the game, and the AK-47 is simply too popular not to receive this finish. You’ve probably heard enough about this skin family to know what a Blue Gem is, but what if we tell you that there’s an even rarer version of the skin? These extremely hard-to-come-by patterns are called Gold Gems, and they’re the topic of today’s article.
What is Special About the AK-47 Gold Gem Skins?
AK Case Hardened Gold Gem is a unique variation of the Case Hardened skin. It’s not unique to just AK, as Five-SeveN, MAC-10, Hydra Gloves, and most blades in the game have their own Gold Gems.
The coloration of each AK-47 Case Hardened Gold Gem (and any Case Hardened skin in general) is defined by a random number called “pattern seed.” The CS2 players and collectors define the rarity and value of the Case Hardened skins by their coloration, which means that some patterns are more valuable than their peers. As a rule, if the gun is almost covered in blue, it’s called a Blue Gem. Similarly, “Gold Gems” are the skins dominated by golden shades.
Still, the skin’s wear also significantly influences its value. Collectors usually opt for Factory New and Minimal Wear Gems, as there are no scratches to reduce the gun’s visual appeal. Additionally, some traders attempt to increase the value of these weapons by applying various stickers.
AK-47 Gold Gem Seeds
All in all, there are 1,000 possible variations of the Case Hardened skin. Among these, the Counter-Strike community officially recognizes only four AK Gold Gem patterns. There are just two tiers (Blue Gems typically have four) with two patterns each.
Group | Patterns |
Tier 1 | 784, 219 |
Tier 2 | 473, 538 |
The reason for such a small number of patterns is how demanding the public is when it comes to this skin line. Unlike Blue Gems, the gun should be almost 100% covered in yellow to get the CS2 AK Case Hardened Gold Gem status and get the community's attention.
1st Tier
The guns from this tier are often called “full Gold Gems.” This category includes only two options highly appreciated by the Counter-Strike community.
We’ll start with the most popular AK-47 Gold Gem pattern, #784. All metal parts of this gun are almost entirely covered in gold. Any professional CS2 player would probably admit this weapon strongly resembles its “relatives” from Call of Duty.
Of course, you may notice some blue and purple spots, but they’ll be almost invisible to your enemies and teammates during the dynamic matches. What this means is you can run around the maps with a golden AK-47.
On the other hand, such fun will hit your pockets like few other things can. The price for the #784 starts from $15,000 and may reach even over $16,000, depending on the trading platform and the gun’s float.
Another example of the perfect AK Gold Gem is the #219 pattern. Once again, the gun has an almost entirely gold body. Unfortunately, the big blue dot on the edge of the magazine is also there.
Nonetheless, the gun looks excellent in-game. If you manage to find this pattern with the Factory New float, you’ll get an ideal golden AK-47 shining in the rays of the sun. Its average price is nearly $15,000 (what a gut punch, huh?).
2nd Tier
You can meet a lot of players saying that the weapons from the second tier are “fake Gold Gems.” Unlike the guns discussed above, these skins have more blue and purple spots on their metal parts. However, it’s hard to notice any difference if you don’t know where to look. That’s why unfair traders often sell these AK Case Hardened Gold Gem patterns as the more valuable “full” variations.
The only noticeable detail that can help you distinguish the #473 pattern from the more valuable Gold Gems is its blue buttstock. On the other hand, the skin still looks wonderfully in all of its golden glory.
Don’t be surprised to discover the AK Case Hardened Gold Gem price for the #473 to be nearly $15,000 or even more, but we advise against buying it at that price point. The actual value of this pattern is between $10,000 and $13,000.
Last but not least, the #538 is worth the attention of any Gold Gem collector. Nearly 90% of this AK-47 is covered in yellow. At the same time, it has some interesting details. For instance, the gun can boast an awesome blue flash hider. Plus, pay attention to the unique design of the metal part of the buttstock. It’s a perfect mix of purple and yellow!
Just like #473, this skin is quite pricey. Even if you’re lucky enough to discover it on a fair trading platform, you’ll still need to pay at least $10,000 for one.
How to Get Karambit Gold Gem Pattern Skin?
The following tiny list includes all possible ways to add the desirable item to your inventory:
- To unbox a case.
- To buy it on a trading platform.
Of course, you can choose the first option. First, you’ll need to get the Weapon Case, which is the only one in the game that can provide you with Case Hardened skin for an AK-47. Its price starts from $80. In addition, you’ll need to buy a key for $2.50. After that, you can unbox the case.
Even if you’re lucky enough to receive the desired skin (3.19%), the chance it’ll get AK Case Hardened Gold Gem seed is 1 to 250 (if counting the “fake” versions). Considering that it may take dozens or even hundreds of cases and keys before you obtain the gun, it’s better to choose the second option.
There are dozens of reliable platforms for Counter-Strike traders in addition to the traditional Steam market. You can discover a lot of interesting offers there, and with any luck, you can get your own Gold Gem. At the same time, never forget to review the gun you want to buy to check its pattern number, as scammers are seemingly everywhere these days.
Conclusion
Although an AK-47 Case Hardened Gold Gem seed can’t turn the gun into the most valuable skin in the game, having such a rare item in your inventory is still great. You’ll undoubtedly impress teammates and enemies while carrying such an incredible weapon during your competitive matches. Further, the prices for these AK-47s only keep growing, making the purchase a decent investment idea.
